RAINBOW PLAY SWEATER

SIZES:  2 years (3 years)

MATERIALS: 
    Knitted Worsted Yarn --
       1 skein (3.5 oz.) MC
       1 skein (3 oz.) each:  A, B,
           C, D, E, & F (I used red,
           blue, orange, brown,
           purple & green ombre)
     #6 & #8 Knitting Needles

GAUGE:  18 sts/32 rows = 4" (garter st with #8 needles)

GARTER STRIP PATTERN: 
      K each row & work 4 rows in each color as follows -- A, B, C, D, E, F, B, D, A, C, F, E, B, A, 
      & D.

PULLOVER:
Back:  Beg @ lower edge with #6 needles & MC, cast on 56 (59) sts.  Work in K1, P1 rib for
         1.25".   Change to #8 needles & Garter Stripe Pattern (work pattern through once).   Piece
         should measure 7.5" from rib.  Mark armholes for size 2 years.  For size 3 years:  continue in
         pattern with following colors:  C, E, A, F, & D.  Piece should measure 9.5" from rib.   Mark
         armholes.  With MC and K1, P1 rib, work until piece measures 13" (15") from lower rib.   
         Bind off in rib.

Front:  Work as for Back until piece measure 12" (14") from lower rib.  Bind off center 28 sts in rib.
          Work each side until piece measures 13" (15") from lower rib.  Bind off in rib.

Sleeves:  Beg @ lower edge with #6 needles & MC, cast on 35 sts & work in K1, P1 rib for 1.25".
              Change to #8 needles & Garter Stripe Pattern (work through pattern once).  For size 2
              years, continue in pattern with colors C & E.  Bind off.  For size 3 years, continue in
              pattern with colors C, E, A, F, & D.  Bind off.

Finishing:  Sew shoulder seams.  Sew sleeves into armholes.  Sew side & sleeves seams.
